Program Host

Carl Hemmingsen is program host, and host of Half Past which airs Sundays at 11 pm and Curtis Calls which airs Mondays at 10 pm and Wednesdays at noon.

Carl and his wife Roberta enjoy walking their dog "Brio."  In earlier careers he was a high school math teacher in New Jersey and a budget analyst for the Defense Department in Washington.  He plays violin or viola in chamber music ensembles and community orchestras.

Join us Sunday, 6/4 at 11 PM for Stephen Douglas Burton's Symphony No. 2, "Ariel" and "A Letter" by Lee Hoiby.  Music from the past half century on Half Past.

Join us Friday, 6/2 at noon for a concert titled "Four x 4" from the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra and their Music Director, Mark Hyczko. We'll hear music for string orchestra  by Judd Greenstein, Jinsil Lee, Mohammed Fairouz and Alberto Ginastera.

Cellist Will Chow joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in September 2016.  This week on Curtis Calls, from his graduation recital at the Curtis Institute we broadcast the Cello Sonata by Chopin and Beethoven's 3rd sonata for Piano and Cello.  Composer Andrew Hsu, now at the Julliard School is the pianist.
