Bach at One

From Trinity Wall Street, enjoy the music of Bach and others performed by the Trinity Choir and Trinity Baroque Orchestra at St. Paul's Chapel, NYC; Julian Wachner, conductor.

Monday's (3/19) Bach@One features Matthew Glandorf directing Choral Arts Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Bach Collegium in J.S. Bach's Sanctus in D, BWV 238 and Cantata BWV 215, "Praise Your Good Fortune."

Guest conductor Stanley Thurston leads the Choir of Trinity Wall Street and pianist Charity Wicks DePinto in a program of spirituals, including "Listen to the Lambs," "Jesus Walked This Lonely Valley"  and many more on this Monday's Bach at One (3/5).

Bach at One (2/5) from Choral Arts Philadelphia features the second part of Claudio Monteverdi's "Vespro della Beata Vergine, 1610."  Artistic director Matthew Glandorf directs Choral Arts Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Bach Collegium, Dark Horse Consort and soloists sopranos Jessica Beebe & Rebecca Myers, altos Maren Maltobano & Jennifer L. Smith, tenors Michael Jones, James Reese & Nikolas Karageorgiou and basses Jean Bernard Cerin & Cody Mueller.

On Monday, 1-22 we'll hear Matthew Gandorf lead Choral Arts Philadelphia & the Philadelphia Bach Collegium in a program titled "The Reformation: Influence and Inspiration."  The music is by Walter, Hassler, Praetorius, Brahms, Distler, Carpenter and J.S. Bach.

Monday, 1-15 on Bach at One Matthew Glandorf leads Choral Arts Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Bach Collegium in Henrich Shütz's "Musikalische Exquiem" and "Immortal Bach" by Knut Nystedt.

This Monday (12-18) on Bach at One Julian Wachner leads the Choir & Orchestra of Trinity Wall Street in J.S. Bach's Cantata 13, "Meine Seufzer, meine Tränen" (My sighs, my tears) and BWV 39, "Brich dem Hungrigen dein Brot" ("Break with hungry men thy bread."

This Monday (12-11) on Bach at One Julian Wachner leads the Choir of Trinity Wall St. in music by Isaac, Webern, Sheppard, Dorman & Tallis. The performance, recorded in September from the Time's Arrow festival, features music by several 16th century composers that Webern particularly admired.

Monday (12-4) on Bach at One we'll hear Orchestra 1B1 and the Trinity Choir in J.S. Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and the Motet: "Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied" along with the Te Deum by Arvo Pärt.

This Monday (11-27) on Bach at One we'll hear the Trinity Choir & Orchestra under the direction of Julian Wachner in Cantatas BWV 164, "Ye who bear the name of Christ" and BWV 178, "If God the Lord is not on our side."

This Monday (11-20) on Bach at One Julian Wachner leads the Trinity Choir & Orchestra in J.S. Bach's Cantatas BWV 139: "Wohl dem, der sich auf seinen Gott," BWV 180:"Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele" and BWV 184: "Erwünschtes Freudenlicht."

Monday (11-13) on Bach at One from Trinity Wall Street's "Time's Arrow" festival we'll hear :

Night Time Suite for Harp & Violin by Sebastian Currier  &

Pierrot Lunaire, op. 21 by Arnold Schoenberg.

This Monday (11-6) on Bach at One we'll hear J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 159, "Sehet! Wir gehn hinauf gen Jerusalem," Telemann's "Du aber, Daniel, gehe hin"  and the Julian Wachner's arrangement of the Led Zeppelin song "Stairway to Heaven."  Julian Wachner directs NY Baroque Inc. and the Choir of Trinity Wall St.

This Monday (10-23) on Bach at One we'll hear songs by Anton Webern interspersed with music from the 15th and 16th centuries.  Julian Wachner leads members of the Choir of Trinity Wall Street and Novus NY.

This Monday (10-16, 1 PM) on Bach at One we'll hear W.F. Bach's Symphony in Fm Fk 67 "Dissonante" and the church cantata, BWV 131, "Aus der Tiefen rufe ich, Herr, zu dir."

This Monday (10-9) on Bach at One we'll hear Choral Arts Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Bach Collegium in Cantata 11, "Lobet Gott in seinen Reichen" ("Praise God in his realms") and Cantata 106, "Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit" ("God's time is the best of all times")
