The Piano Matters with David Dubal

The Piano Matters  compares recordings of great piano works performed by various artists past and present, analyzing and explaining differing approaches to the music.  Each show will also include several “encores” drawn from the rich repertoire of piano music penned by composers such as Chopin, Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Schumann, among others.

The Piano Matters concludes its three-week tribute to Glenn Gould this Wednesday (10/11) at 10 pm. While the first two programs in this series focused on Gould's performance of Bach works, this week's looks at the pianist's approach to other composers. Host David Dubal and guest host, pianist and writer Benjamin Laude, explore Gould's recordings of music by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Scriabin, Schoenberg and more.

The Piano Matters continues its tribute to the legendary Glenn Gould this Wednesday (10/4) at 10 pm, turning the spotlight on Bach's Goldberg Variations.

In celebration of what would have been Glenn Gould's 85th birthday, and marking the 50th anniversary of his death, David Dubal welcomes special guest Benjamin Laude to share and discuss the artistry of the great Canadian pianist. This week features the music of J.S. Bach.

Over the next three weeks, The Piano Matters will explore the artistry of Glenn Gould, who passed away 35 years ago and would have been 85 this year, in a series of programs celebrating his performances of Bach - including his lauded recordings of the Goldberg Variations - as well as music by other composers. Host David Dubal welcomes fellow pianist, scholar and writer Benjamin Laude, who received his Masters and Doctorate from Juilliard, as his special guest they discuss Gould's style and survey various recordings.
